Sci-Fi survival thriller The Invincible unveiled for PS5, Xbox Series & PC

Indie studio Starward Industries has revealed The Invincible. The intriguing sci-fi adventure game set in a retro-future is slated to launch on PC and exclusively on next-gen consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series family in 2021.

The relatively newly-found Polish game studio Starward Industries has revealed its first project. Heavily inspired by the hard science-fiction novel of the same name by legendary Polish author Stanislaw Lem, The Invincible will aim to offer brutal survival on an alien planet and terrifying secrets to uncover.

Players will assume the role of an astronaut who has crashed on a truly alien planet. With his entire crew scattered around and the hostile environment trying to get the better of him, it’s up to you to reassemble your team and survive.

You are a scientist onboard an interstellar scientific expedition, suddenly thrown into a life-or-death rescue mission. Landing on a planet Regis III you have to find the missing crew members using some advanced space equipment, whilst relying on your brains and instincts to survive on the planet which quickly occurs to be unwelcoming. Soon you’ll discover that Regis III holds terrifying secrets which are uncovered while you’re piecing together the fate of your crew. And as you delve deeper into the mystery, you realise that perhaps you are not alone, and that some places like this planet are better left untouched. But it’s too late to turn back.

No gameplay footage of The Invincible has been released sadly, but we at least got a teaser for the atmosphere the developers are going for with a music preview clip. The oppressive yet futuristic sounds have us already immersed while looking at the game’s screenshots. You can listen to it here.

While The Invincible is the studio’s first project, there’s good reason to be excited for a polished and great game. The ten-man team at Starward Industries consists of industry veterans who have previously worked on big-budget hits like The Witcher 3, Dying Light, Cyberpunk 2077, and more. Yes, Poland has long established itself as a powerhouse in the realm of game creation.
