SDCC 2014: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor’s mysterious Wraith detailed

I'll admit, I was a little skeptical of the new Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor game when it was first revealed, but after watching this new story trailer I stand corrected. Revealed today at San Diego Comic-Con, the new trailer titled "The Bright Lord" sheds more light on the game's story, including the identity of the mysterious Wraith bound to Talion, as well as his connection to the Rings of Power and the Dark Lord, Sauron.

"As Talion and the Wraith follow a promising trail, they find a series of ancient artifacts that trigger painful memories of the Wraith’s history and his connection to the Rings of Power," Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment explains. "The connection unites the two heroes to one common goal against Sauron, but also questions their path to redemption."

As we've already known, you'll be playing as Talion, the Ranger of The Black Gate whose family was murdered in front of him the night Sauron made his return to Mordor. With the help of this mysterious Wraith — a Spirit of vengeance that holds a very ancient grudge against Sauron — Talion fights on, also looking to exact revenge on those who killed his family.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Windows PC. Earlier today it was announced that the game's release date was pushed up a week to September 30.
