Amazon releases the first images for their revival of 'The Tick', as well as an official release date.
Any 90's nostalgia buff has those special pockets of the overall culture that hold a special place in their hearts. It might be Pokemon, classic Nickelodeon, Power Rangers, etc. For some, however, it might be the incredibly underrated and difficult to replicate animated series, The Tick.
The Tick was originally a comedy comic book series about a dim-witted, but well meaning, super strong hero in blue spandex. Fighting crime with his trusty sky-bound sidekick, Arthur, the series was adapted in the form we all know best, the FOX Kids animated series. Well after the show was off the air, a live-action series was attempted in 2001 for FOX starring Patrick Warburton as the titular hero, but the show was not well received and only managed to last a total of nine episodes.
Now, it seems that Amazon is taking another stab at bringing the big blue brawler back into the mainstream. It was recently announced that a series was being developed for their streaming service, and for the start of this year's San Diego Comic Con International, they've announced an official release date, as well as dropping some new images from the series.
The show will star Peter Serafinowicz as The Tick, Griffin Newman as Arthur, with Jackie Earl Haley, Brendan Hines, and Yara Martinez.
The Tick premieres on Amazon August 19th!
