SDCC 2016: FOX releases the first trailer for FX’s ‘Legion’

The classic X-Men storyline comes to life.

FOX reveals the first trailer for the long anticipated X-Men based TV series, 'Legion'. Check it out above!

This year's San Diego Comic Con is proving to be one the most eventful showcases in a long time. Every studio's panel gave us so much to look forward and the hype will be mounting for months to come. With comic book movies flooding the market as of late, FOX has decided to expand their 'X-Men' brand and bring to life one of the most overlooked storylines, 'Legion Quest'.

FX plans to bring to life the character known as Legion in a TV series slated to release early next year. The show stars Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), and Hamish Linklater (The Newsroom), and takes place in FOX's Marvel Universe.

'Legion' follows David Haller, a troubled young man who may be more than human. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and visions might be real.

If you're unfamiliar with the character, Legion is actually Professor X's estranged son. Real name David Haller, he's actually one of the most powerful mutants known. Having enough powers to take on an army, the only way he's psychologically capable of handling that capacity is for his mind to fracture into multiple personalities, one for each power. There's no word yet on how this story will fit into the X-Men movie-verse, namely if they plan to include his lineage with the X-Men's mentor, but we should have more info as the premiere date approaches.

Legion premieres on FX early 2017!
