SDCC 2016: Marvel gives us the first look at Captain America’s bronze memorial

Marvel unveils their bronze Captain America memorial statue at Comic Con before making its way to its new home in Brooklyn.

It was recently announced that Marvel, much in the vein of Rocky Balboa, would be unveiling a newly designed Captain America bronze statue at this year's San Diego Comic Con. The statue weighs a solid ton and clocks in at 13 feet tall. The bronze Steve Rogers stands proudly holding his signature shield up high with the words "I'm just a kid from Brooklyn" at his feet.

The monument will be showcased at Comic Con this year before making its journey to Brooklyn's Prospect Park starting August 10th for a two week engagement following a dedication ceremony and a public screening of Captain America: Civil War. Afterward, the statue will make its way to Barklays Center for all of September, finally making its way to Sunset Park, where it will spend the rest of the year.

The Comic Con unveiling will also come with the chance to buy a 1/12 scale limited edition replica figure, as well as a comic featuring the statue in the story, also for a limited time.
