Sigourney Weaver gives up some details on the concept behind 'Alien 5' and dishes on Comic Con's plans to celebrate the 30th anniversary of 'Aliens'.
As soon as it was announced that Sigourney Weaver was expected to return for another 'Alien' sequel with 'District 9' director, Neil Blomkamp, attached to the project, fans thought it was a match made in heaven. While original series director, James Cameron, will be too preoccupied with the upcoming 'Avatar' sequels to take part, the direction taken seems to be a fitting continuation for the series.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sigourney Weaver gave up some details on what the project will have in store for fans of the series. The sequel apparently plans to acknowledge more of the first two movies, while ret-conning most of the story from the previous two:
“It’s just as if, you know, the path forks and one direction goes off to [Alien] three and four and another direction goes off to Neill’s movie.”
In celebration of the 30 year anniversary of the 1986 sequel, 'Aliens', Comic Con 2016 will be hosting a reunion with the original cast for a Q&A session. Weaver and James Cameron will return for the event, joined by Bill Paxton, Paul Reiser, Lance Henriksen, Michael Biehn, and Carrie "Newt" Henn. The panel will take place in the famous Hall H on Saturday, July 23rd.
