SDCC 2017: Ben Affleck reassures that he’s still Batman and has no plans to exit

Says it's the "best f**king part in the world".

Yesterday, it was reported that Warner Bros. is attempting to find a way to have Ben Affleck "gracefully exit" the role of Batman. Presumably, this means they'd have him pass on the cowl to someone else in a movie or something rather than just straight up recast him and have no explanation within the universe. This was of course, very upsetting for many people as Affleck is considered to be the best part of the DCEU.

Luckily, at Warner Brothers' Hall-H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Affleck came out on stage and flat out denied the rumors with a statement showing his enthusiasm for the role.

"Let me be clear, Batman is the greatest fucking part in any universe, DC, Marvel, and I'm so thrilled to do it. I know there's this conception that because I didn't direct it that maybe I wasn't enthusiastic about it but… it's fucking amazing. I still can't believe it after two films that we've had this great history with this studio and they said 'We want you to be our Batman' and I believe them. Matt Reeves is doing it and I'd be a fucking ape in the background for Matt Reeves, nevermind being Batman, it's incredible. I'm really blown away and excited, it's a great time in the DC universe."

He went on to say they're really proud of Justice League and he's really excited to be Batman. Of course, it should be noted that DC just announced a movie based off of the Flashpoint storyline which has previously been used to serve as a reboot in the comics. While it sounds like Affleck will move forward with starring in The Batman, it's unclear if we're going to see him after the Flashpoint film.

It's likely the studio is covering their bases and will have a way to remove Affleck from the picture if he decides after Justice League and The Batman that he does indeed want out. While he sounds incredibly enthusiastic now, they're not going to come out and say he's jumping ship right before their biggest movie yet comes out. We'll just have to see how DC's big ensemble film turns out at the end of the year.

Justice League hits theaters on November 17th, 2017, you can click here to view an all-new trailer.
