Laurence Fishburne and Michelle Pfeiffer have joined the cast of the upcoming ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’.
The Marvel Studios panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con was one of the best ones ever. Fans were not prepared for the litany of new footage and news about the coming Marvel projects on the way. The start of the panel reportedly featured a prepared video with Paul Rudd and Michael Pena as they comically recapped the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the release of the sequel, ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’, still almost a year away, no new footage was ready to show. Fortunately, they provided some updates on the casting and fans were not disappointed.
Veteran actors, Laurence Fishburne and Michelle Pfeiffer have signed on to the cast. Pfeiffer will be playing Hank Pym’s long-lost wife and mother to his daughter, Hope, Janet Van Dyne, aka the original Wasp. It’s unclear if she will be making a full-fledged appearance or if her involvement will be in a flashback capacity considering she was lost to the subatomic universe, according to the previous movie.
Fishburne will be portraying Dr. Bill Foster, aka Goliath. If you’re unfamiliar, Goliath is a researcher ally of Hank Pym’s. He was responsible for helping him perfect the growing aspects of the “pym particles” on human subjects, later using them himself, giving him the ability to grow at will. It’s possible their cinematic relationship began before the events of ‘Civil War’, which would explain how Scott had learned how to use his suit to grow into Giant Man.
No other new updates on the project have been released, so check back for more on the development of the film.
The movie stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena, with Laurence Fishburne, and Michelle Pfeiffer.
Ant-Man and the Wasp released July 6, 2018!
