SDCC 2017 Roundup: Warner Bros. blew fans away with news of the DCEU’s bright future and beyond

The Warner Bros. panel gave fans a lot to look forward to when it comes to the future of the DCEU and beyond.

Day Three of the San Diego Comic Con 2017 has gone perfectly so far. The first huge panel belonged to Warner Bros. and they did not take that responsibility lightly. As expected, they unveiled the newest trailer for the upcoming 'Justice League' with a flurry of updates and news for the rest of the projects they have in store for fans the world over! Here are the major bulletpoints from today's event:

Justice League

The latest trailer for the upcoming ensemble epic, 'Justice League', was one of the best we've seen so far. Featuring a great deal of humor and action from our favorite heroes of the DCEU, fans rejoiced having been reassured that the movie might be the start of the studio's much needed hot streak for successful films. The trailer showed off the already established heroes from previous films, the newest villain, Steppenwolf, along with some teases to both Green Lantern and Superman!

The Fate of the Batfleck

There was some anxiety among fans upon learning that Warner Bros. had been considering Ben Affleck's exit from the role of Batman. Most have considered his portrayal of the character to be one of the saving graces of 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' since most audiences were left pretty divided. At the Warner Bros. panel, the rumors of his departure from the role were stamped, reassuring fans that the Batfleck is indeed here to stay!

Aquaman

Unfortunately, the footage shown from the production of 'Aquaman' was exclusive to the attendees of the panel. Director, James Wan, unveiled some of the concept art that inspired the visuals in the movie, but sources have described the footage: a small fishing boat out on the ocean gets a bite on their line which they are unable to reel in. As the camera pans up, we can see several armored ships and Atlantean soldiers passing beneath the surface on their way to battle. Jason Mamoa himself confirmed that that was in fact the aquatic armada belonging to Ocean Master. The movie is still in production, so a trailer could be dropping as we approach the release of 'Justice League'.

DCEU

Before the 'Justice League' footage premiered, the studio gave fans a breakdown of which projects are to come for the rest of the DC Extended Universe. They confirmed that sequels to 'Wonder Woman' and 'Suicide Squad' are officially on the way, the solo Flash movie will focus on the "Flashpoint" storyline from the comics, and 'Batgirl' will begin production next year along with 'Gotham City Sirens'.

Ready Player One

The first trailer for the Steven Spielberg directed sci-fi adventure, 'Ready Player One', made a splash. Described as "The Holy Grail of Pop Culture", the movie stars Tye Sheridan ('X-Men: Apocalypse') as Wade Watts, a player in the virtual MMO, The Oasis.

When the creator of an MMO called the Oasis dies, he releases a video in which he challenges all Oasis users to find his Easter Egg, which will give the finder his fortune. Wade Watts finds the first clue and starts a race for the Egg.

Justice League releases November 17th!

Ready Player One releases March 30, 2018!

Aquaman releases December 21, 2018!
