SDCC 2017: Todd McFarlane confirms Blumhouse Productions will release the ‘Spawn’ reboot

The 'Spawn' reboot officially has a studio. Now, all we need is a cast!

Todd McFarlane reveals the new 'Spawn' reboot will be produced by horror studio, Blumhouse Productions.

Todd McFarlane's 'Spawn' movie reboot has been a topic of speculation for a while. Last we heard fomr the master himself, the project was trucking along nicely with a script nearing completion and studios currently bidding on the project. That wasn't much to go on, but fans have been anticipating the project knowing that it wouldn't be just another superhero punch-fest, but rather a dark, rated R horror movie. He made it clear that some final decisions would be made in regards to the movie and a big announcement would release as of this year's San Diego Comic Con. Recently, McFarlane took to Facebook with Kevin Smith for a live announcement of what's to come:

(function(d, s, id) {
var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];
if (d.getElementById(id)) return;
js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;
js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.10”;
fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);
}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Keeping in the spirit of a horror film over your typical superhero movie, McFarlane opted for Blumhouse Productions, famous for such hits as 'Get Out' and 'Insidious'. McFarlane is also working with Kevin Smith for the adaptation of 'Sam and Twitch' for AMC about two detectives that exist within the Spawn-verse.
