Sea of Thieves announces its Closed Technical Alpha Test for Windows 10 users

Sea of Thieves has been in the hands of a growing number of Xbox One players since its first Closed Alpha test back in December. There hasn't been much talk of when PC players would finally get in on the action, but a new post on the Sea of Thieves blog has officially put that question to rest. Much like the initial wave of invites for Xbox One players, 1,000 lucky PC gamers will be able to take part in the first Windows 10 Closed Alpha test this Saturday, May 20th, 2017.

The test will run from 2:00 – 5:00 PM EST, and invites have already started rolling out. In order to qualify for the Technical Alpha test, you have to join the Sea of Thieves Insider Program and fill out a survey about your PC's technical specifications. The game will have all of the features that have been added to it thus far, but this particular test will be focusing on two primary aspects.

  1. The Auto-Detect system which (as its name suggests) can automatically read what kind of hardware your PC has and can dynamically change its graphical settings accordingly to achieve the smoothest gameplay experience.
  2. Gaining feedback on the default mouse and keyboard controls.

Sea of Thieves still doesn't have an official release date, but we expect to see much more from the game at E3 2017.
