Sean Astin teases possible Goonies sequel

It wasn't too long ago that Sean Astin, the actor behind asthmatic Mikey Walsh in the original Goonies movie, shared that he had full faith that The Goonies would be getting a sequel. "I have always believed that there will be a Goonies Sequel, because Steven Spielberg told me in 1988 that he wanted to make one," said Astin in September 2015.

It looks like Astin is back to talking about The Goonies sequel, except this time, he's talking like it's already happening. While visiting Phoenix ComicCon 2016, Astin let  revealed that Mikey would be once again coming face to face a key character from the original (Youtube via MovieWeb).

“In the original ‘Goonies,’ it’s not the only time Mikey will come face-to-face with One-Eyed Willy.”

While it's unclear whether The Goonies is indeed getting a sequel or if there's simply a script floating around, but either way, it sounds like Astin has some insight on the project. From the quote we can take away that Mikey and Willy would be making a comeback if there is a sequel, but there's no word on Corey Feldman, Josh Brolin, Kerri Green, Martha Plimpton, or Jonathan Quan. Jeff Cohen, who played Chunk, confirmed that he would not be making a return.
