No Man's Sky has picked up a lot of press over the last couple of weeks and not all of it is good. There seems to be a misperception floating around the internet that the game is more of a multiplayer game since it is technically a shared universe. These players seem to be underestimating just how large this universe is. Sean Murray took to the official No Man's Sky website, as well as Twitter to lay out everything in a last ditch effort to clear up any confusion.
Murray lays out 6 key points that encompass the No Man's Sky experience. They are as follows per the official website:
Murray goes on to describe the game as "niche" and "a very very chill game." He does say that certain mechanics like base building and hauling freighters will eventually make it into the game, but it seems like a foregone conclusion that any true multiplayer mode would seriously compromise the vision of the game, and is unlikely to ever happen.
If these are things you can get behind, then No Man's Sky is for you. If it's a true multiplayer experience you are after, you're better off trying the likes of Elite Dangerous or Star Citizen.
