Nintendo has released the latest system update for Wii U owners to dig into and feast like there's no tomorrow. Given how long these downloads take for some folks, there may actually be no tomorrow. I, for example, have to deal with an average DSL connection, so as you can see from the header image, it's going to take well over two hours to download the update.
THANK GOD FOR BACKGROUND DOWNLOADS, AMIRITE?
Wii U system update two is a full 593 megabytes. The patch is intended to provide "further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience."
I really hope all of that technical stuff means the load times will be shortened a bit. I've been having a good time with my Wii U, but it's kind of annoying dealing with lengthy load times just to do something as simple as check my system settings or get on Miiverse.
Earlier today we found out that Nintendo plans on shipping future Wii U consoles with the first update already installed. Here's hoping that's the case with this update and, well, any other updates that are released until that practice takes effect.
