Bethesda has released the second official trailer for DOOM Eternal. The awesome new video shows plenty of gruesome combat while also framing the story of the highly-anticipated shooter. Check it out below!
Bethesda and id Software really hit it out of the park with 2016’s DOOM reboot. By going back to basics and leaving the slow-paced horror experiment of Doom 3 in the past, the grand-daddy of first-person shooters reclaimed its throne of must-play FPS games firmly. And what started as an experiment of a quasi-dead franchise looks to bloom into its ultimate form with DOOM Eternal.
Now, that the publisher knows that shooter fans still enjoy brutal shooting just like decades ago, it looks like developer id Software is not only doubling down on the great qualities of DOOM 2016 but aims to enhance it even further with more weapons, mechanics and an even bigger story.
Hell’s armies have invaded Earth. Become the Slayer in an epic single-player campaign to conquer demons across dimensions and stop the final destruction of humanity.
The only thing they fear… is you.
And that’s all that we witness in the most recent trailer. It’s an absolute blast of a trailer that showcases new enemies, locations and weapons. Chief among them is a badass energy sword which is being used as both a close-combat melee weapon but it can also shoot a laser blast-like energy projectile. Further, the story aspects of the new trailer allude to a new kind of civilization that is actually behind the hellish plague. It’s incredible to see high-tech alien levels where the Doomguy rains bullets on all kinds of monsters.
After a painful delay, DOOM Eternal is finally coming out March 20th for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Google Stadia. A Nintendo Switch port is due out sometime later this year.
