3D artist and Pokémon fan Jarlan Perez recreated protagonist Ash Ketchum’s bedroom, the birthplace of the long-running Pokémon animated series, in Unreal Engine 4, with stunning results.
The brief video tour above is remarkably faithful to Ash’s room, though it is not without its creative liberties. Evidently, Ash picked up a swanky new laptop and TV in his journey to become a Pokémon master, which may very well be over judging by those badges and Pokéballs.
Most of Perez’s other works feature bizarre and intricate machinery and robots, so it seems far from coincidental that his Ash project released on the heels of Pokémon’s 20th anniversary, not to mention the announcement of Pokémon Sun and Moon. In fact, that was exactly what prompted it, though Perez was already working on the project.
"In honor of the 20th year anniversary of Pokémon, I decided to recreate Ash's room in Unreal Engine 4," Perez wrote on YouTube. "Watching the Sun and Moon announcement trailer really inspired me to finish this project. I owned every single one of the Gameboys that they showed in the trailer and the main reason was to play Pokémon."
Thanks, Polygon.
