SEGA Classics releases today on Amazon Fire TV with 25 Genesis games

Sonic, Streets of Rage, and more classics all available in one digital bundle.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the SEGA Genesis, the iconic publisher has teamed up with Amazon and compiled 25 of some of the console’s best games for an app on Amazon Fire TV.

If you own an Amazon Fire Stick or have access to Fire TV in some other way, you can purchase the SEGA Classics app for $14.99 and have instant access to games like Streets of Rage 1 – 3, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD, The Revenge of Shinobi, and many more.

SEGA has opted to bypass the trend of making a small, plastic replica of their beloved console in favor of a digital bundle. These games can be played with the standard Fire TV remote or with a Bluetooth controller paired via the Fire TV settings menu and if you have extra controllers, 15 of the games are multiplayer.

You can view the full list of games below.

We got to play around with the SEGA Classics app over the last few days and while the UI lacks some fanfare by being a basic white and blue menu with game icons, it’s a pretty solid way to experience some classics. You’ll probably be better off playing them with a Bluetooth controller (we used a Steelseries Status XL) as it’s a more competent way of playing them but the Fire TV remote isn’t a terrible way of playing them either.

SEGA Classics is out now for $14.99 in the United States. It’s also available in the United Kingdom, Germany, Brazil, Australia, France, Italy, and Spain.
