After Nintendo revealed their plans to release a mini NES this November with 30 pre-installed games, you could have guessed that other companies with classic consoles would try the same thing. Sega is jumping on the bandwagon with their mini Mega Drive themed after 25th Sonic the Hedgehog Anniversary.
Sega's mini Mega Drive will come with 80 games built-in, including a number of classic Sonic the Hedgehog games and Mortal Kombat. Unlike the mini NES (the NES has no original NES game port), the Mega Drive will be compatible with original Sega Mega Drive cartridges.
The mini console will allow up to two players to play at a time, but there's a catch.
While the mini NES uses an HDMI cable to plug into your TV, the mini Mega Drive uses AV cables… Which means that you'll need to order a connection port, unless you already do retro gaming and have one. Oh, and it doesn't actually come from Sega. The mini Mega Drive is a Sega licensed product, but it's being made by AtGames, a company known for using poor emulation software. Also, it's only been announced for Europe.
