Sega’s iconic Phantasy Star Online 2 finally out globally

Sega’s cult free-to-play MMO Phantasy Star Online 2 has at long last arrived at a global scale. Coinciding with the global launch, a brand-new story arc has launched as well with Episode 4. Check it out here!

Calling PSO2 a new game is a bit of a stretch. It came out originally way before the current consoles were even a thing, at the start of the past decade in 2012. But there is a good reason why you might have never heard of it before. Phantasy Star Online 2 was only available in Japan for almost an entire decade.

Just this spring did Sega bring the great MMO to the west but only North America. Xbox One and Windows users in this region have been enjoying the iconic action-oriented MMO in the recent months. But today it’s the turn for a much wider audience with the global launch of Phantasy Star Online 2.

Experience the most responsive action combat system in an online RPG to date. With highly customizable attacks and abilities, PSO2’s combat encourages players to get creative in their battle strategy. Precision and skill determine the outcome of each combat situation, and with eighteen weapon types to choose from, you are never limited to just one playstyle.

There’s a good reason for existing players to get excited as well though since with the global launch Episode 4 for PS2 Online is live now too. Players can look forward to a bevy of new content ranging from missions to increased level caps, events, and much more.

It’s a great time to jump in the PSO bandwagon but we foresee it to be far from the last. PlayStation 4 owners outside of Japan are still waiting for the game to launch on their preferred gaming platform. Thankfully, at least we already have confirmation that it’ll happen sooner than later from Xbox Head Phil Spencer of all people.

Phantasy Star Online 2 is out now on PC via Steam & Microsoft Store, and Xbox One.
