Shadow of Colossus for PlayStation 4 has finally released, and just a few days after release, it’s managed to become the best selling game in the UK for the past week. Sure, that’s successful, but not surprising. What’s really interesting is that it has also managed to sell 73% more than the original gem back on the PS2.
The original Shadow of Colossus was an absolute classic. It was the second game by Team Ico and while their first game, ICO was well-received, Shadow of Colossus was the studio’s real claim to fame. It’s typically considered one of that console generation’s must-plays.
The game was given an HD remaster for PS3, which cleaned up the resolution and allowed HD resolutions, but the most recent remake rebuilds the game from the ground up, with a few additional features to accompany it. As with most PS4 exclusives, it also comes with its own PS4 Pro enhancements to further pay for its worth.
Many remakes are seen as cash grabs by some, but this classic seems to get a pass, simply so the journey can be available to any generation of gamer. GameZone’s review of the latest visit to Shadow of Colossus was beaming with positivity.
“From the moment you step foot in this world, you’ll be struck by the breathtaking visuals. The sheer vastness of the landscape is stunning. The hand-crafted environment aided by an improved lighting system that enhances the beauty as you transition between the various biomes ranging from lush forests to sand blown deserts to dark interiors.”
