Josh Trank, credited with the movie Chronicle, is directing a Shadow of the Colossus film for Sony Pictures.
The film will be a live-action production based on Team Ico's popular title, which contains more gameplay — in terms of gigantic boss takedowns — than it does story or dialogue, at least compared with most video games. Shadow of the Colossus originally released for PlayStation 2 in 2005 and focuses on a young man desperate to bring his lover back from the dead. He must topple 16 colossi to earn his chance.
Kevin Misher — who is helping with MGM's remake of Carrie, starring Chloë Grace Moretz — signed on as producer.
The studio is seeking writers to assist Trank.
