Only a brief period after the game’s announcement, Devolver Digital has now shared a lengthy gameplay demo of Shadow Warrior 3. Check the entire 17 Minutes of glorious Wang-on-man action here!
It’s still a fair time until Shadow Warrior 3 comes out on its projected release window of lat 2021 but that doesn’t hold Devolver Digital off from already showing a massive walkthrough of their tongue-in-cheek first-person shooter.
And what we see makes us want even more. Shadow Warrior 3 continues with the silly puns, comedic tone, and brutal action but manages to feel entirely fresh and unique compared to its predecessors. It achieves this by embracing a much more saturated, bright and colorful design. A welcome change from especially the second Shadow Warrior that ventured a tad too far into a muted color palette.
Colorful and fantastic enemy designs that actually play into the gameplay have us both surprised and excited. How about a living slinky that fires Chinese fireworks at you? Already great on its own but you can also finish it with a glory kill to rip a firework cannon out of its guts and spread a fiery rainbow of colors on your foes!
Fallen corporate shogun Lo Wang and his former employer turned nemesis turned sidekick Orochi Zilla embark on an improbable mission to recapture an ancient dragon they unwillingly unleashed from its eternal prison. Armed with a punishing mix of blades and bullets, Lo Wang must traverse uncharted parts of the world to track down the dark beast and push the apocalypse back yet again. All it will take is the mask of a dead god, a dragon’s egg, a touch of magic, and enough firepower to hold off the impending cataclysm.
We also spot the many new additions to the gameplay mechanics. Environmental hazards like spikes can be used to impale enemies, while impressive the areas themselves can be destructed to an unprecedented extent. Complementing the frantic action are wall-running, double jump, and a grappling hook.
Shadow Warrior 3 is slated to launch in 2021 with the PC as the only target platform confirmed so far.
