Shadow Warrior Classic is forever accidentally free on Steam

Devolver Digital meant to make the original Shadow Warrior free only to those who "liked" the game's new Facebook page, but some breaks in security loosed all 50,000 keys to the public.

As the publisher put it, "whoops."

Since people were already selling the keys online and Devolver wanted to generate hype for Flying Wild Hog's upcoming remake, the company decided to just make the classic free to play on Steam (for PC and Mac) — permanently. Enjoy.

Devolver Digital is the publisher of games like Hotline Miami, which is currently a part of the latest Humble Bundle deal, which has raised more than $1.2 million so far.

The new Shadow Warrior will release for PC this fall and next-gen consoles in 2014.
