Shantae fully funded on Kickstarter

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero has raised over $421,000 on Kickstarter, meeting its crowdfunding goal with more than a week to spare.

Developer WayForward Technologies thanked fans, press, and other game companies for helping to promote Shantae. That includes the team on Keiji Inafune's overfunded Kickstarter project Mighty No. 9.

In response to the early success, WayForward revealed alternate playable heroes and a new chapter as additional stretch goals at the $900,000 and $1 million marks, respectively. At $500,000, gamers can play as Risky Boots, Shantae's arch-nemesis.

Half-Genie Hero is slated for Wii U, PlayStation 3, PS4, Vita, Vita TV, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
