Shantae release on 3DS moves to July 18

WayForward Technologies needs a little extra time to bring Shantae from the Game Boy Color to the Virtual Console for 3DS.

The platformer was supposed to drop on June 20, but the day came and went, and WayForward — which developed the title back in 2002 — didn't mention the rerelease again on its blog. Now WayForward has announced a new release date for next Thursday, July 18 (via Nintendo World Report).

With the Virtual Console version, the company can now introduce the game to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand in addition to releasing it in North America.

WayForward just released Mighty Switch Force! 2 on the Nintendo eShop late last month. It's also developing a new title, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, for the 3DS and working on DuckTales Remastered for PlayStation Network, Wii U, PC, and Xbox Live Arcade.
