Shazam film to be more “lighthearted” than other DC films

So no dark and gritty filter?

Details on the upcoming Shazam film were announced towards the end of July, which revealed that the YouTube short creator, turned horror film director, David F. Sandberg will be the director for the DC film.

New details on the upcoming DC film, from the director himself, have revealed that the film will be much more lighthearted than previous DC movies.

"The big attraction for me with that character is the fact that every kid dreams of being Superman, right? I mean I certainly did, and [Billy Batson] is a kid that gets that chance," said Sandberg to the Toronto Sun,. "He gets to become the superhero. So it'll be big with superpowers in a way. In terms of what people can expect, I think this will be one of the more fun or lighthearted movies so far in the DC universe. It certainly will be a departure."

Shazam is expected to release in 2019
