There's a new glimpse into the world of Shenmue 3 that shows Ryo and Shenhua as they come upon the Lake of the Lantern Bugs. It's a pretty scene, even if the graphics aren't quite there yet. It's certainly a happy moment for the fans who have been impatiently waiting for the past 14 years for Shenmue 3 to be announced, even after the rest of us saner individuals had given up hope.
There's also something charmingly awkward about it as well. The scene depicts a night with a full moon and fireflies illuminating a tiny oasis, it's a classic sort of scene. However, the camera seems a little too focused on Shenhua's fully covered rear end. Possibly because her posterior appears to be emitting light, even from under her very conservative outfit.
It's nice to see Shenmue moving along regardless, and it looks pretty good for something that's still so early into its development cycle. The size of the game hasn't even been hammered out yet, because the Kickstarter that will determine its scope has yet to end. With less than 72 hours to go,
The Kickstarter is pushing $5 million, and may have a little surge from slacker backers that still want in on rewards, including a last minute NPC reward tier they just announced: $6,000 will let you become an NPC in the game that gets to make Ryo's acquaintance at the Choubu Inn.
