Shenmue 3 continues to stay in the dark after its magical unveiling during Sony's E3 2015 presser, but it looks like developer YS Net will be getting some financial backing from Dead Island publisher, Deep Silver. The news was revealed on the official Shenmue website alongside a few details on the plans the developer has for Gamescom 2017.
Here's what they said:
The Shenmue III project has signed a global publishing contract with Deep Silver, the game division of the German company, Koch Media. Game fans may already be familiar with Deep Silver, as they are a trusted brand who has helped many Japanese game titles find their audiences around the world. We are proud to have gained a wonderfully reliable partner to make sure Shenmue III reaches all its fans all over the planet.
As previously announced, Shenmue 3 will be at Gamescom 2017, promising new gameplay footage and announcements, but it also turns out that there will be a Meet-and-Greet with Game Director Yu Suzuki. If you're going to be at the show, here are the times and dates of the event.
There is currently no release date in sight for Shenmue 3, but it is now targeting 2018 after being delayed.
