Shenmue 3 will not be at E3 2017

It feels like it's been an eternity since we've seen or heard anything substantial regarding Shenmue 3. At E3 2015, Sony revealed they would help bring a cult classic series back to the gaming scene for the first time in over a decade. Many assumed the Shenmue series would never return but after the backing of Sony and a very successful Kickstarter, it will return in the near future.

Many hoped to hear some new information regarding a release date or maybe even some gameplay footage at E3 2017 but the Shenmue development team has confirmed they will not be attending the gaming convention this year.

We have also been receiving questions from our backers regarding our plans to participate in upcoming game shows. While our schedule has yet to be finalized, we will be devoting June to game development and as a result, will unfortunately not be participating in any game shows. On the other hand, we look forward to bringing you our monthly updates and hope you do too!

Thank you!

From the Shenmue III Team

The team also released a short YouTube video revealing a new character. You can view it below.

Shenmue 3 is set to release on PlayStation 4 and PC. It's unclear if it'll release on any other platforms afterward.
