Shenmue is Alive!!!!

The third entry in Sega’s Shenmue game has officially been announced, the catch? It’s a game that’s part of Yahoo! Japan and DeNa’s new Yahoo! Mobage service operator DeNA for PCs in Japan and will be titled “Shenmue City.” According to the official press release (via Andriasang translation) the two firms have stated that Shenmue City is the first entry into the series in nearly eight years and will be released this winter.

Yahoo! Mobage is a PC-based social game networking service that was recently opened today, although it’s been running its beta since September 21. In addition to 100 other titles, Shenmue City will be joined by other games including One Million Person Ambition of Nobunaga from Tecmo Koei and Persona Social from Atlus. While this news may not be what Shenmue fans were hoping for, it has to give them hope that SEGA still cares about the series to an extent, and that perhaps one day, we will see a true and proper sequel.
