The last few months have been quite busy for the live-streaming community. Mixer shut down. Dr. Disrespect was banned from Twitch, nixing a partnership. He then returned to streaming via YouTube. Ninja moved from Mixer and is now what you might call a “free agent”. Now, Shroud, another popular streamer has returned to Twitch after the Mixer shut down.
Shroud returned to the Amazon-owned company with over 500k viewers after signing a contract with the company. “I am so excited to be able to announce my return to Twitch and more importantly get back to streaming. Twitch is where I was able to first turn my passion for streaming into a successful career—and it is all due to my incredible and loyal fanbase,” Shroud said in a statement yesterday.
His return to his roots wasn’t grand, however, he blankly told everyone he was just there to play some games like usual. And that he did, he played Valorant for hundreds of thousands of people on stream. In the single stream, Shroud says he got over 13,000 Twitch subscribers which start at about $5 a piece. That means he made a minimum of about $65,000 before Twitch takes their cut.
The popular streamer has been sitting pretty for quite some time. Shroud signed a deal with Mixer reportedly worth $10 million which would’ve locked him into the service for years. Due to the shutdown, he was able to walk away with all that money after only streaming there for less than a year.
