Studios(tm), Relic Entertainment(tm) and Barking Dog Studios(tm) Announce
Homeworld: Cataclysm BELLEVUE,
WA (January 14, 1999) – Sierra Studios(tm), Relic Entertainment(tm)
and Barking Dog Studios(tm) unveiled today at the Milia trade
show in Cannes, France, a new chapter in the award-winning, revolutionary
real-time strategy series – Homeworld. Created by Canadian-based
Barking Dog Studios, Homeworld: Cataclysm (www.sierrastudios.com/games/hwcataclysm),
scheduled for summer 2000 release, is the
next evolution of the critically acclaimed Homeworld universe. "We’ve
worked closely with Barking Dog in the past and are confident they’ll
be able to creatively expand the Homeworld universe," said Alex Garden,
CEO of Relic Entertainment. "Homeworld: Cataclysm is poised to stand
on its own with a new, darker storyline, more original missions, and new

Cataclysm extends Homeworld’s revolutionary gameplay with entirely
new fleets of ships, each with the ability to upgrade their capabilities,
new research, fog-of-war, interface enhancements, mothership modules,
damage control and way points. Homeworld: Cataclysm continues
the saga from the original Homeworld game and introduces a new
threat from a techno-organic entity known as "The Beast." In
addition to the seventeen new single player
missions, Homeworld: Cataclysm will feature
an improved multiplayer mode that allows for multiplayer games of up
to eight players via WON.net, along with support for WON.net’s enhanced
