At E3 2016, Rare showed off some of Sea of Thieves's gameplay. A few months later, we saw them livestream the game more. Finally, Rare is ready for some hands-on with Sea of Thieves with their technical alpha.
Their website describes Sea of Thieves being all about the players, their friends and their high seas adventure.
"With this in mind, our ongoing approach to game design is to craft a wealth of features and systems suited to all manner of player motivations. Our intention is to get that content into players’ hands as soon as possible, giving us valuable feedback and insights into the diverse ways that people will play and experience Sea of Thieves."
Rare states their dedication to player feedback throughout development to help make the best game they can. With the launch of their Sea of Thieves Insider Programme, they're inviting those passionate and excited about the game to join their technical alpha to get some outside eyes on it. The technical alpha will launch on December 16 with a series of scheduled playtests. They encourage those excited for the game to sign up and join them on crafting their title.
They state their mission for the insider program to be:
- We want to deliver on our promise to Insiders to help us test early game mechanics and services at a larger scale than anything we’ve delivered before.
- We want to give our participating Insiders the opportunity to provide feedback about their experience.
- We want to use this feedback and our data insights to make meaningful changes to our game.
The first weekend's player limit will be a mere 1000, so make sure you sign up early!
