Silent Hills’ Kojima and Del Toro still planning to work on a new project together

Since the cancellation of Silent Hills, both Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro have been seemingly quiet. But in a recent interview with IGN, Guillermo Del Toro opened up on the matter and stated that Kojima and himself are keeping in touch and plan to work together in the future.

"I love working with Kojima-san. We are still in touch. We are still friends and working into doing something together, but that’s not going to be [Silent Hills]," he said.

"We were in the planning stages, and it’s a shame it’s not going to happen," del Toro said. "We were talking about really pushing the boundaries of the new consoles, and making the game really mess with your head. One of the great moments in Metal Gear [Solid] was Psycho Mantis. The idea that a game can actually interact with you, and stuff like that."

Silent Hills was first teased back in 2014 when it was released to PlayStation owners as a mysterious playable demo known as P.T. It was cancelled, for some odd reason, in April of this year. And though it has since been removed from the PlayStation Store, anyone who previously downloaded it and kept it installed on their system can still enjoy it. Unfortunately, the P.T. demo is the closest thing we'll see to the finished Silent Hills game we'll get. How unfortunate considering how great of a demo it was.

Following the cancellation of Silent Hills, Konami and Hideo Kojima have apparently split, with the company removing Kojima's name from all upcoming artwork for Metal Gear Solid. While Kojima Productions has completely dissolved, Konami has assured fans they will continue making Metal Gear Solid games without Kojima.

What game would you like to see Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro work on next?
