Simcity’s ‘Cities of Tomorrow’ expansion takes you 50 years into the future

Electronic Arts has dropped the first details for SimCity's next expansion pack, Cities of Tomorrow. Just as the name sounds, it will transform your city into a "city of tomorrow," or what Maxis envisions it would look like in 50 years.

"Using new technologies and experimental urban planning techniques, mayors will shape the destinies of their cities, thriving in a utopia of clean technologies, or a dystopia of hyper-commercialism," its brief description reads. On a side note, doesn't the voice in the trailer kind of sound like Morgan Freeman?

Cities of Tomorrow will introduce new regions (hopefully larger), new "future" technology, new city specializations and more methods of transportation that will hopefully solve the traffic problem once and for all. And for the first time ever for the franchise, you'll be able to build vertically with "multi-zone MegaTowers." Other new features include technologies that will make your city less polluted, less reliant on natural resources, and more energy efficient — after all, this is the future right? Lastly, an all-new disaster exclusive to this expansion can help rain chaos upon your city's population.

SimCity Cities of Tomorrow is currently in development for Mac and PC and will be arriving November 12. It's available now for pre-order for $29.99.
