SimCity server update deployed, ‘should improve game performance’

SimCity is off to a rocky start, to say the least. Despite positive reviews, its launch has been marred by server issues preventing many from enjoying Maxis' latest city-building simulator. It's unfortunate because it really is a great game… when you can play it.

Looking to address the problems, EA and Maxis today pushed live a server update which "should help to improve game performance." Among the fixes, the following issues should be resolved:

  • Trading not working consistently
  • Unable to load/claim city errors
  • Getting stuck in a loop in the tutorial

The update was first announced at 7:00am EST, but is expected to take a "few hours." During this time, EA warns that you "may experience intermittent performance issues, for which we apologize first."

It looks like the update has completed as I'm now able to log in to the game. I'll be sure to update you once we've verified the following issues are, in fact, resolved.
