SimCity test server going live later today

Maxis has plans to set live a new SimCity test server that will allow the developers and players to test changes and new features before they are released across the real servers. Now that the game's login and server issues appear to be over, Maxis can focus on fixing in-game bugs and errors. The new server, appropriately called "Test" (so that there's absolutely no misunderstanding), will improve Maxis' ability to deploy updates "as quickly and accurately as possible."

The developer does encourage players to hop on and help test out the changes and features, but warns it will not be as stable as other live server environments.

"You’ll have the sincere appreciation of the SimCity development team for helping us test the game, but your experience might be unstable. We also may take this test server down at any time, and you could lose progress in your saved cities. You should not lose your cities on this test server, but it is always a possibility."

The test server is expected to go live later today.
