SimCity update 2.0 will address Recycling centers, fire engines, and casinos

Now that SimCity's server problems appear to be a thing of the past, Maxis is working on fixing the game's bugs. Before we get to the future update 2.0, let's first highlight a few incoming fixes that are currently in the QA environment being tested. City rollbacks, lost progress, and the return of features like Cheetah Speed and Leaderboards are all "top priorities" at Maxis, according to senior producer Kim Katsarelis.

Looking towards the future, update 2.0 will address several other issues including the Recycling Center bug. It will also fix the fire engine clumping, improve the efficiency of Street Cars, and increase the radius of river water. Update 2.0 will also make Casinos more profitable.

"Keep in mind, if you don’t see a particular fix present in an Update, this doesn't mean we’re not working on it, or we’re not aware of it. Our team is constantly getting reports about the top issues being raised and this is helping us prioritize what we need to address. There are some issues that are more challenging and will take more time," assured Katsarelis. "Thanks for sticking with us. We hope this gives you a better idea of what we've been working on."

Here are a few fun facts to hold you over until the next update.

  • Mayors have spent more than 33 centuries worth of time playing the game
  • Enough road has been laid to circumnavigate the earth over 5000 times
  • More than three quarters of a million active cities are being played each day

Not bad for a game that got off to such a rough start. If you're still on the fence with SimCity, now might be a good time to check it out.
