Don't worry, there's no "Call Me, Maybe" video accompanying this announcement. The revamped digital versionĀ of SingStar, announced for PS4 earlier this year, will make its debut next month on October 28.
SingStar will be made available as a free digital download, exclusively on PSN for PS4 and PS3. This download will include the game client with direct access to the SingStore where you can purchase songs to build your library. If you're new to SingStar, there's a number of free demo songs for you to check out.
Pricing for songs and song packs won't change from previous versions of the game; individual songs cost $1.49 while song packs containing five songs are $5.59. Additionally, if you've already purchased songs from SingStar on PS3, and it's available on PS4, you will be able to download it to your PS4 at no extra charge.
Of course, the main draw for SingStar is the ability to partake in the fun even if you don't own a microphone. Releasing alongside the game is the SingStar companion app, SingStar Mic, for iPhone, iPod Touch, and Android. This app will allow you to use your smart device as a microphone for either version of the game. Additionally, you can use the app to create playlists from your SingStar library.
