Sky: Children of the Light from Journey devs confirmed for PC & Consoles

Out now on iOS

Thatgamecompany is celebrating the launch of their new title Sky: Children of the Light on iOS devices, while also confirming that new details about PC and console version will be coming very soon. The game aims to offer a similar experience as to the indie developer’s cult classic Journey. Check out the game in action in the new trailer below!

After their first two relaxing indie games Flow and Flower, Thatgamecompany hit it out the park with 2012’s PlayStation 3 exclusive Journey. The game didn’t just become a huge commercial success, it even won Game of the Year Awards from multiple publications. An unfathomable feat for an indie title at that time. Journey, among other great indies, were instrumental in bringing indie games to the forefront.

After the release of Journey, our studio was inspired by our players’ response that they had enjoying the game together with their parents, sons, daughters, grandparents, and partners. As a result, we wanted to expand on this and create a world in Sky that could be easily shared with your loved ones. A place where you could revisit, and be entertained and emotionally-moved each time.

As such, the studio’s announcement of a new project thrilled gamers of all kinds. To their astonishment, that game is now coming out first for mobile devices. While smartphones and tablets have gained a lot of ground in terms of performance, the move still came as a surprise. Nonetheless, from the released footage it’s clear that the jump to another set of platforms didn’t hurt the game’s ambitions in any form.

Still, we’re thankful that the developer is planning to bring Sky: Children of the Light to the more traditional gaming consoles and PC. In a blog post from the iOS launch, we learn that Thatgamecompany “will have more news on tvOS, macOS, PC and Console release soon”.
