Skylanders: Swap Force, the next game in the Skylanders video game and toy franchise, will be releasing on virtually every platform. Activision confirmed that Swap Force is coming out on next-gen consoles — the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 — as well as on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.
Swap Force changes up the Skylanders toys a bit, as each toy now has top and bottom halves that can be combined to form different in-game Skylanders. Swapping the tops and bottom halves of the 16 Swap Force characters can form 250 unique combinations; doing so will create a character with a combination of special powers. Also new to the game is flying, climbing and teleporting.
Vicarious Visions is developing Skylanders: Swap Force for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U; Beenox is handling the Wii version, while n-Space is doing the 3DS version. Activision announced that Skylanders: Swap Force will be releasing in the U.S. on October 13, but you should expect that the versions for Xbox One and PS4 will release when those consoles' release dates get announced.
