It's taken over a year, but PlayStation 3 owners will finally get a taste of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's DLC. Bethesda announced today the upcoming release of three Skyrim DLC packs — Dragonborn, Hearthfire, and Dawnguard — which are set to arrive in February. All three have been available on the Xbox 360.
Dragonborn will be the first add-on arriving on PSN. The exact date in February has not yet been confirmed. Dragonborn was first released on Xbobx 360 in December. The plot revolves around a mysterious figure named Miraak — who may or may not be the first ever Dragonborn. He's casted a spell upon the people of Solstheim, turning them into his slaves. You must stop him.
Hearthfire will release next. This, too, is already available on Xbox 360. This relatively small DLC adds the option to build a custom house and start a family. You can learn more about it here.
Finally, Dawnguard — the very first expansion for Skyrim — will be coming last. Dawnguard sees the return of Vampire Lord Harkon. Using the Elder Scrolls, he seeks to do the unthinkable – to end the sun itself. You can choose to join the ancient order of the Dawnguard and stop him, or become a Vampire Lord yourself.
All three pieces of DLC are expected to arrive in February, though. Bethesda also confirmed the 1.8 update will release, just prior to Dragonborn. Lastly, each one of these DLC add-ons will be available for 50% off during their launch week on PSN. I guess that sort of makes up for everything PS3 users have had to put up with.
"Over the last year, it’s been a treat for us to work on new content for Skyrim, and we’re excited that it will soon be available for everyone to explore," Bethesda concluded. "Thanks for all your support and sharing your adventures with us."
