The fact that Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has not hit store shelves yet hasn't stopped the VGA voting council from nominating it as one of hte five finalists for Game of the Year. Apparently, they've played enough of it to deem it GOTY worthy, and it will now join Portal 2, Batman: Arkham City, Uncharted 3, and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword as the five nominees up for the VGA's Game of the Year award.
Embargo is still in effect for Skyrim so don't expect any official spoilers as a result, thought I'm sure you can still find some as leaked gameplay footage has been popping up all over the internet. Unfortunately, that's as close as many gamers will get to experiencing Skyrim gameplay for another 8 days. Skyrim is set to hit shelves on November 11 with release on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. At that point, fans can decide for themselves if Skyrim is really worthy of being the Game of the Year.
As for the other nominees, Uncharted 3 just released a few days ago and has received outstanding scores, as did Batman: Arkham City. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be the last gam, out of the list of nominees, to be released with a launch date of November 20.
Be sure to tune into the VGA's live on SPIKE on December 10, 2011.
