Skyrim Patch 1.2 Will Improve PS3 Performance

On Friday Bethesda's Pete Hines informed us that the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of update 1.2 for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim were "submitted for certification".

While he did give us a timeframe for the release as "live the week after Thanksgiving", he didn't reveal exactly what fixes the update will address.  For those outside of America, Thanksgiving falls on November 24th.

Hines specifically stated today he wouldn't give a list of all the fixes in the upcoming patch until he was "certain they are all in".

With that being said, he did address one certain issue that has been plaguing PS3 gamers since the launch of Skyrim a little over a week ago.

"On the list for this update is improved performance for long-term play on PS3," Hines confirmed today via Twitter.  Of course, the "performance" he is referring to is the latency/lag framerate issues plaguing current PS3 users who play Skyrim for long periods of time.  The widespread problems are expected to be caused by the unusually large save files for Skyrim on the PlayStation 3.

Hines promised that he would "provide a list of fixes once patch has been certed and no other changes will be made."

Aside from the improved PS3 performance, I expect the upcoming patch to fix the Xbox 360 texture issues many have complained about.  As for those playing Skyrim on PC, Hines did say that an update for PC was "coming too", but didn't say when.
