Sledgehammer Games: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare isn’t science fiction

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will pit players in a futuristic military setting, but according to Sledgehammer Games co-founder Michael Condrey, that doesn’t mean the game is “science fiction.”

Speaking to GameInformer, Condrey explained that Advanced Warfare is, like recent installments in the Call of Duty franchise, relatable to today’s standards.

"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable. It's always been one of the strengths of the franchise,” Condrey said.

This year’s installment takes place in 2054, but features technology that is grounded in reality, or better described as technology that is currently in development across various private and public military sectors.

"It's not that fictional leap to a science fiction world you can't relate to," Condrey said.

Sledgehammer Games’ first fully-developed Call of Duty title is set to launch on November 4 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
