Sleeping Dogs free today for Xbox Games with Gold

Just a reminder, in continuing with the Xbox Games with Gold promotion, Xbox 360 owners can download Square Enix's open world action-adventure game, Sleeping Dogs for free.

Introduced last year, Xbox LIVE Gold members are treated to two free games each month on Xbox 360, though Microsoft has said the promotion will expand to Xbox One as well (we are still awaiting further details). Games are available on the 1st and 16th of each month and disappear at each respective half-month deadline.

Kicking things off for January 2014 is Sleeping Dogs which puts you in the shoes of an undercover cop trying to take down the Triads in the vibrant exotic city of Hong Kong. "You'll have to prove yourself worthy as you fight your way up the organization, taking part in criminal activities without blowing your cover. In time, you will risk everything as the lines between truth, loyalty and justice become permanently blurred," the description reads.

Sleeping Dogs can be downloaded now through January 15 for free. On the 16th, Microsoft will make free Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. Prior to announcing January's free games, I said Microsoft could learn a lot from Sony's PlayStation Plus offerings. Do you think they have?
