Sleeping Dogs voice actors revealed

In a press release today, Square-Enix revealed the star-studded list of voice actors who will have a hand in their upcoming blockbuster, Sleeping Dogs

According to the developer, the Hong Kong setting played a vital role in the hiring of the actors: “Hollywood and Hong Kong cinema stars were enlisted to help the game capture the tone of Hong Kong cinema.” The line-up, detailed below, shadows this decision, and frankly, we couldn’t be happier with whom they chose.

The focus of the entire game will revolve around protagonist Wei Shen, voiced by Will Yun Lee (Die Another Day, Total Recall), a Hong Kong cop who's on a mission to take down one of Hong Kong’s greatest threats. A hero is as good as his trusty sidekick, though, which is why Tom Wilkinson (Batman Begins, The Full Monty) will be playing the role of Pendrew, a detective who assists Wei.

Shen’s in-game opposition, Winston “Red Pole” Chu, will be voiced by Parry Shen (Better Luck Tomorrow). Winston won’t be working alone, as his business family will assist in taking over the entire city.

Also joining cast is The Amazing Spiderman’s own Emma Stone, Robin Shou (Hard to Kill), Terence Yin (New Police Story), James Hong (Blade Runner), Lucy Liu (Kill Bill: Vol. 1), Tzi-Ma (Rush Hour), Yunjin Kim (Lost, Diary of June) and Kelly Hu (Martial Law, X2) – all of which will be serving as minor characters.

Though Sleeping Dogs will keep players on their toes with countless action sequences, the team at Square-Enix have recorded over two hours of “rich dialogue” that will be included in the final product. “As huge fans of the genre we knew exactly who we wanted; we knew who could bring the script to life. The end result is fantastic,” stated United Front Games’ Stephen van der Mescht.
