Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS trailer to be shown during Nintendo Direct E3

Back in January, Nintendo confirmed that the first screenshots for the highly anticipated new Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS would be shown off during the Nintendo Direct E3 presentation. Up until now, that was all we thought we would see of the game. It now appears, however, that an entire trailer will be revealed during the online broadcast.

ONM is reporting that Masahiro Sakurai has confirmed the first Smash Bros. trailer will be showecased next week during the Nintendo Direct. The new Smash Bros. game is currently being developed for both Wii U and 3DS, so it's assumed some 3DS footage will be showcased as well. Franchise creator Masahiro Sakurai said in April that the key for the franchise moving forward is "dual support for the 3DS and Wii U" with some sort of linking between the versions. Hopefully we find out more next week.

The broadcast, which stands in place of a traditional press conference, will be streamed online at 7:00am PST/10:00am EST. Other games shown off during the Nintendo Direct E3 2013 include the new 3D Mario and Mario Kart games, both of which were announced back in January.
