SMITE announces official release date and $100K LAN prize tournament

Sup, gods and goddesses? For you long term and hardcore SMITE players, I have good news for you. The action, 3D, MOBA game you have played for multiple hours and love finally has a hard release date. On Tuesday March 25th, 2014 SMITE will be officially launched for the general public.  For those concerned that the free-to-play game will change its model at launch, fear not; it will remain free-to-play.

During the long Open Beta phase of the SMITE’s existence, over 2,500,000 registered players have taken to the godly conflicts. To reward these loyal fans, anyone who is level 30 by release will be given a Cacodemon skin for the Ymir. There is still time to sign up for the Beta and get to max level to get the skin if you haven’t yet.

As part of this grand release, SMITE will be having a massive $100,000 LAN prize tournament in Atlanta Georgia in front of a live audience. This tournament will be broadcasted on Twitch and will take place Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th March 2014. The teams will be made up of the top four teams in Europe and the top four teams in North America who have qualified via SMITE’s Weekly Tournaments starting January 4th 2014.

It’s officially god slaying time folk.
