SNES archivist looking for donations after USPS employee “stole” $10K worth of games

Earlier this week, it was revealed that the United States Postal Service (USPS) had either lost or stolen around $10,000 worth of SNES games (100 games) on their way to Byuu, an amateur video game archivist. The games were sent to Byuu on loan from a game collector, who fully expected the games to be sent back to them after Byuu archived them.

Unfortunately, there's no happy update here. USPS has found a portion of the package that contained the 100 SNES games… The label. USPS claims that a machine "damaged" the package and the label was the only part of the package that was found.

The package had been insured for 1,000 Euros, which doesn't cover the cost of the games that were lost. Byuu is actively trying to replace the games for the collector who lent them. To do so, Byuu needs help. Byuu will be throwing in as much of their own money as they can to get the cost of the games covered, but is looking for donations:

"I will pitch in as much of my own money as I possibly can, but I am asking for your help to fund replacement for these lost games. I will also accept donations for any of the missing games, of course! But preferably try not to send them through USPS for obvious reasons.

I will keep everyone updated on the funding level, and I will also be setting up a webpage to indicate the status of each game missing and each game replaced."

Byuu is accepting donations via Paypal or Patreon. The donations will go directly to Byuu, who will then purchase the games, archive them, and send them back to the lender.
